DESCENT TO THE CALDEIRÃO AND PONTA DO MARCO Considered one of the most beautiful craters, if not the most beautiful, of the archipelago, the trip to the Caldeirão (1) is mandatory but it is advisable to go in time to leave the traditional route and enjoy this telluric experience. It is possible to descend into the crater and reach the lagoon, where small islands can be seen that seem to represent the remaining islands of the archipelago. In addition to cattle, you can also observe horses in the wild to enjoy the freedom and peace that the place offers to those who appreciate and respect places of worship like this. At the opposite end of the viewpoint where the minibusses stop and climb to the edge of the crater, which has 3.7 km of perimeter, you can observe the famous Ponta do Marco (2)The cliff, facing north, goes down to the sea and in front of it there are no other islands not even land in sight but only sea and more sea.
BIRDWATCHING Well-known as a destination of excellence for the practice of this modality, it is possible to observe numerous migratory birds, that seek food and rest of its long ocean crossing. The Corvo island integrates the international itineraries and became a reference point for birdwatchers and ornithologists, so every year between October and November, there is a pilgrimage to the island to observe non-nesting birds on their route between America and Europe.
CARA DO ÍNDIO This Traditional Pepper called "Pimenta da Terra" Cara do Índio (3) is an admirable and emblematic escarpment, with a unique rock formation, that is located in the west zone of the island, where each one must let his imagination fly. To see it, it is necessary to walk along one of the official pedestrian rails of the island, halfway between the village and the Caldeirão, zigzagging through hydrangeas and black stone walls that transform the landscape into a small patchwork where the cattle grazes slowly.
