6 Breathtaking Sunset Places - Azores Lovers

6 Locations with a Breathtaking Sunset

ESCALVADO VIEWPOINT
At the exit of the Sete Cidades and towards Várzea, at the top of a high steep rock, is located a viewpoint that was once a whale watching spot (1). Today, it is the stateroom of one of the most poetic sunsets on the island, over the sea and the coast of Ferraria and Mosteiros. On clear days, you can see on the horizon the Terceira Island and the highest point of the Pico Island.

FERRARIA

What if the heat of the last rays of the sun could be simulated? The Ferraria Thermal Baths (2) guarantee this sensorial experience with an outdoor hot thermal pool by the sea, where you can watch a great sun disappear while you can experience a dive that touches the soul, while your body relaxes in therapeutic waters.

CALOURA

Observe the show of the reunion of sun, sea, and land, where this trio is conjugated tenderly in the bay of Baixa d'Areia (3). Watch from a small viewpoint on the top of the beaches, or toasting with a liquor in the panoramic bar of Hotel Caloura (4).

PICO DA BARROSA
If the fog does not fall on the mountain, this is the place where the most skeptical convert to the existence of something divine. There is no drone that conveys the sense of peace and communion with nature that this special spot offers us. Going up the north coast of the island (if possible) to the Lagoa do Fogo antennas (5), there is only you, the darkness, the silence, and a panoramic screen over the whole western part of the island, with ocean to the north, to the south, and to the west, where the sun goes down, and where the night begins. Let yourself stay until the stars appear. You will not want to miss this magic screen.

SANTA BÁRBARA BEACH
In Santa Barbara beach (6)beach, surfers are kings. And as such, they are presented every day with a sunset that makes the best wave overlook. When settling down, the large fireball touches the sand, displaying the northwest coast of the island and making it one of the most popular summer spots for sunset parties and dinners in the TukáTulá bar, while you can taste a tuna steak or a vegetarian dish.

MILÍCIAS BEACH
Park at Forte de São Caetano – next to some stone structures that resemble indigenous totems, right next to the Praia das Milícias (7). Here, the sun rises behind the islet of São Roque(8), to the sound of the foam of the waves, taking with it a beautiful amount of colors in the sky, marking the moment when the Rosto do Cão reaches its glory, before the day ends, while, one by one, the lights of the surrounding urbanization begin to emerge.
